Christmas And Nepal/ A Surprising History

About Christmas


Christmas is the most important festival of Christians and is supposed to be feast day of Christ. It is celebrated annually on the date of December 25 as a birth anniversary day of great Jesus Christ. Although it is a festival of the Christians, in the later years it had been celebrated by people with other religions too throughout the world. People do alots of preparations and decorations of church, home etc some days before the event celebration.
During event celebration they make a Christmas tree at mid of their home and also decorate it with colored lights, balloons, colored flowers etc. People invite their relatives and friends to join with them for celebration infront of Christmas tree. Further, they confess infront of Jesus for their sins and sufferings. People sing a holy song in praise of their lord Jesus. Later, they distribute Christmas gift to their guests and children as a Santa Clause.


Nepal's History Of Christianity 

Protestant Christians came in Nepal through the Nepalese who were living outside of Nepal during and prior to Rana Regime. After the end of Rana rule in 1950, Nepali Christians living in India came in along with some western missionaries.United mission to Nepal, International Nepal Fellowship and others were some earliest western mission agencies that came in and  brought Christianity.The 2008 was a historic year for all Christians in Nepal in every sense of the term. In 2008, the country was declared a Federal Democratic Republic. An interim Constitution was also promulgated which made Nepal as a secular nation.On the later days Christians were actively participated among political leads and decision making areas.Gradually, it got distributed throughout the Nepal but very less to mid and far-western part of Country. It is now celebrated more in the capital city Kathmandu with lots of pleasures.
